Gaining compliance for fires

Electric fires

Since January 1st 2018, all electric fires must comply with new energy efficiency performance levels.

Electric Fires that are inset, integrated within a suite, or are stoves, are classified as portables. This means they will all be incorporated with small additions to ensure they adhere to legislation, without compromising the products’ user-friendly nature.

Electric Fires that are wall mounted are treated as fixed products. To achieve compliance, these products will either have additional features put in place, such as a timer controls, or have the heater controls transferred off the product onto the remote (‘slave’ heater).

Gas fires

All gas fires must be sold with a printed ECO label which shows heat output and Energy Efficiency Index (EEI), and provide a product fiche within the packaging.
